Some of the folks at Star Nation have been talking about this story floating around regarding a man who wanted to reward his employees at the end of a great year with a bonus of some sort and had earmarked $2,500 per individual. Now, this gentleman didn’t own a fleet of Western Star trucks, but if it helps move the story along, you can imagine it is.
After thinking about it for some time, he realized that he was having trouble coming up with something everyone would enjoy as his staff was so diverse. He had fathers of large families, single mothers, newly graduated young people just starting out in life and a brand new grandparent on his staff. He also knew that his employees worked very hard to pay the mortgage and put food on the table for their families. He simply wanted to be able to reward them with something that they could enjoy for themselves, a little luxury for a job well done.
The employer thought about cash, the seemingly simple solution, but knew that most if not all would use it to pay bills or buy holiday presents for others. So, he found a way to ensure his employees would receive the perfect gift – something they chose themselves.
The man hired a limousine filled with champagne and had the driver take them to the area’s finest shopping center where they could buy anything from jewelry to electronics and sporting equipment. If they had enough money, they could book a cruise at the travel agency or buy a fleet of Western Star trucks. This center had everything! As they each exited the limousine, the driver handed them a personalized, hand-written note from their boss enclosed in an envelope with cash. Included were explicit instructions that they had to spend all of that money before the limousine retrieved them and that they were to spend it only on themselves.
Our question to you is what you would do with an extra $2,500 that you could not use to pay your mortgage or power bill? You would have to use the money to buy something that you always wanted but perhaps did not necessarily need – a luxury item or two as a treat to yourself. Would it be a giant TV? A set of golf clubs? A trip to the Caribbean? New chrome for your Star that would make life a little easier on the road? Would you cheat and buy your spouse a new watch?
Tell us about it in the comments below. The good readers at Star Nation would like to know!

No question about it – a trip to the Carribean.
I would buy a nice zero turn tractor for my lawn. I got about 30 acres out here and I’m tired of my old one. Every time i take it out there’s a new problem. Either it won’t start, springs an oil leak, or some other problem to wreck my day.
No question. For me, I’d take a fishing trip out west, Montana i think, and learn how to cast a fly. I always wanted to do that ever since I saw that River movie but I forget what it’s called.
