Stratosphere Sleeper Part II

4900 82 inch Stratosphere SleeperA few weeks ago, we wrote about the “Cool Factor” of the Stratosphere Sleeper.  You may have read about new interior options including the cherry wood dash and steering wheel, the navigation prep system and the brand new door design. What we didn’t tell you was how they managed to keep these Western Star sleepers so light.

Enter the lightweight composite system.  Using Aerospace technology, Western Star eliminates the weight of traditional fasteners with a honeycomb composite design.  That’s why Western Star has some of the lightest sleepers on the road. With that, there’s added durability, soundproofing and insulation. The panels are built using aluminum skins bonded against a specially engineered lightweight core center.  It’s all engineered with the driver’s needs in mind, inside and out.

Stratosphere Sleeper: Choices

The Stratosphere Ultra High Roof gives you an extra 26 cubic feet of extra room and you’d think that would come with a lot of extra weight.  It doesn’t thanks to the composite system.  It’s strong, too.  The cab is steel and with that, you want a sleeper that measures up in terms of durability.   All that aside, Western Star sleepers offer so much, you can’t go wrong with any of the options.  And, they’re available in so many configurations so you can get what you really need instead of having to settle for the one option that’s available for your truck with some other manufacturers.
